What would I need to qualify as a professional client?

It is possible to gain access to increased leverage if you qualify as an elective professional client. You have two paths available to qualify:

Sophisticated investor

Requirement 1:

  • You have placed a minimum of 20 leveraged derivative trades per quarter for at least 4 quarters in the preceding 2 years with a notional value of AUD $500,000 or more in each quarter OR
  • You have worked in the financial services industry for at least 1 year in a position which requires experience or knowledge of derivatives and leveraged trading
     

Requirement 2:

  • You have passed our short assessment to demonstrate your knowledge and experience
    In terms of Section 761GA we may categorise you as a Wholesale Client if we are satisfied on reasonable grounds that you have experience and can assess:
    • the merits of the product or service;
    • and the value of the product or service;
    • and the risks associated with holding the product;
    • and your own information needs;
    • and the adequacy of the information we have given you.

Wealth

Requirement:

  • You have net assets* of at least AUD $2.5 million
OR
  • You have had a gross income of at least AUD $250,000 a year for the last 2 financial years

    If you meet the above criteria, then we may consider categorising you under Section 761G(7) of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) as a Wholesale Client; however, please note that this criteria is subject to you providing us with a certificate from a Qualified Accountant.

    *Net assets may include:
    • Savings, shares and property/land investments
    • Superannuation and trusts
    • Other assets such as cars and caravans
    • Business value
